Purpose

The Fraser Valley Reformed Christian Counselling Society (FVRCCS) was created in response to a need to ensure that participating churches and their members have access to Bible/Christian-based counseling services using counsellors who share the same core beliefs and values. Counsellors are vetted to ensure that they meet the counsellor criteria. A register of counsellors is provided. All counsellors listed in the register have been vetted according to the criteria listed and approved by the Governing Board of the Society. Participating churches and their members engage listed counsellors according to the agreed upon procedure. The church governs the counselling ministry facilitated by the FVRCCS via the participating church denominations appointing their own Board member(s) who report directly to their respective consistories.

The FVRCCS also provides recommended book titles on counselling topics written from conservative Biblical/Christian perspectives.  The listing of book titles with links to where they may be purchased may be found in the Resources section of this website.

Who

The Fraser Valley Reformed Christian Counselling Society (FVRCCS) is an officially registered society in good standing with the BC Registrar of Companies as of August 26, 2019.

The FVRCCS Governing Board includes directors from the following church denominations:

  • Canadian Reformed Churches
  • Free Reformed Churches of North America
  • Heritage Reformed Congregations
  • Reformed Congregations in North America
  • United Reformed Churches of North America

Each denomination may appoint one Board member for every 500 members up to a maximum of three. The Board member is responsible to communicate with the denominational consistory(ies) represented. How

Pastors or Consistory members assisting church members or families may refer them to counsellors listed on the Register of Counsellors. Counsellors will work confidentially with the person being counselled, and when agreed to by the person, they may also communicate privately with a pastor, elder or deacon from the person’s church.

Members of supporting churches may also contact counsellors directly, either privately or in cooperation with their church.

Counsellors may invoice the individual being counselled the full amount for services, or split the invoice with the church paying part, or solely invoice the church as previously agreed to.
